Welcome to the Mother Tongue Directory.
This Directory is for independent practitioners only. Every Interpreting Doula within this directory is fully accountable for their own practice. This directory is not monitored.
An interpreting Doula is someone who has trained as a language-specific advocate and supporter for those in the childbearing year.
This Directory is for use by pregnant women and it includes paid and voluntary Interpreting Doula (birth supporter) services.
Most of the people within this Directory have trained as Interpreting Doulas via the Mother Tongue program and there are a few who are offering translation only.
There is an expectation for payment from each client, if it is affordable and the amount that is agreed upon is between the individual Doula and client.
Voluntary services are only to be requested when and if there is no possibility for any payment. The decision made about payment or voluntary services and the fees charged are entirely at the discretion of each individual practitioner.
